The top five companies accounted for 8% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that RTX filed the most electronic warfare patents within the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q4 2023. The company filed 23 electronic warfare-related patents in the quarter, compared with 15 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Qualcomm with 22 electronic warfare patent filings, Sony Group (21 filings), and Robert Bosch Stiftung (18 filings) in Q4 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 36% share of total patent filings
The largest share of electronic warfare related patent filings in the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q4 2023 was in China with 36%, followed by the US (24%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by China was 4% lower than the 41% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
