Nick Garrett handed expanded global role at Deloitte Digital

Nick Garrett – who has been at Deloitte Digital for just one year – has now been made worldwide lead for its marketing and commerce division.

In September last year, two years after departing Clemenger BBDO, he joined as a partner of Deloitte Creative, part of Deloitte Digital. After quickly establishing himself within the global setup, he’s now being fast-tracked by global CEO of Deloitte Digital, Sam Roddick.

Deloitte Digital told Mumbrella his new role within the marketing and commerce division will sit alongside his current role as partner at Deloitte Digital Australia. Garrett will also continue to be based in Sydney.

The role sees Garrett lead the digital consultancy’s efforts to further push creativity towards the centre its operations, as it continues to push other consultancies in the space, including PwC, KPMG and Accenture Song.

In July this year, Garrett appeared on stage at Mumbrella360 for a live recording of the Mumbrellacast, where he spoke about his role at Deloitte Digital amidst a wider discussion about how many Australian agencies have lost sight of the role in creating valuable brands.

Garrett said at the time of joining that everyone at Deloitte Digital embraced creative thinking, and the power of creativity, wanted to tap into it and harness it, which was ultimately why he joined the consultancy setup.

“The creative canvas is increasing. It’s not creativity and technology, creativity is where humanity and technology collide. So if you’re excited by that, and you realise that most of the dynamic, creative opportunities aren’t going to be what you say, but what you do, I think there’s a huge future.”

Deloitte Digital uses its capabilities to use creative ideation to influence enterprise-wide, as Garrett said looks to play to “bigger deeper moments”.
