Ten offers first look at The Bachelorette trailer and confirms premiere date

Ten has released an extended trailer for The Bachelorette Australia, featuring Western Australian youth worker Brooke Blurton who is the star of the show.

Premiering on Wednesday, 20 October at 7.30pm, the 26-year-old Noongar-Yamatji woman, Blurton, who also appeared on Bachelor In Paradise in 2019, is the first openly bisexual star on Ten’s reality show.

Ten’s The Bachelorette’s sixth season’s premiere episode last year, with sisters Elly and Becky Miles, delivered an overnight metro audience of 628,000.

The previous lowest-rating season was Ali Oetjen’s 2018 series which brought in 631,000. The highest premiere the show has had to date was Sophie Monk’s 2017 season which delivered 951,000 metro viewers.

Last season of Ten’s The Bachelor premiere episode, featuring pilot Jimmy Nicholson, brought in its lowest metro ratings of any premiere episode to date for the network, with an average of 482,000 viewers tuning in to the season launch, while the finale episode saw just 629,000 metro viewers tune in.

The Bachelorette is produced by Warner Bros International Television Australia for Network Ten.

Blurton said: “I am so ready for this. I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience.

“My perfect person is someone that loves me for me. I hope they offer shared values and compassion for others. All the dreamy things. I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”

The Bachelorette Australia host, Osher Günsberg, said: “We are a nation of people from so many different backgrounds, so many different cultures and so many different experiences, yet we all have one thing in common – we all want to be loved in a way that is meaningful to us.

“I can’t wait to get started on helping our Bachelorette Brooke find that kind of love.”

It’s the second year in succession that The Bachelorette producers have shaken up the tried and tested format, after two sisters appeared as joint Bachelerottes on the 2020 season.

Casting for the seventh season of The Bachelorette show is now open, however no casting for The Bachelor has been announced.
